What is piles?
There are two types of piles;

what is piles?
External hemorrhoids
Internal hemorrhoids
What is Piles? – External hemorrhoids occur outside the anal canal. Sometimes they can be painful, and are accompanied by itching,irritation and swelling. The itching, often thought to be symptoms of hemorrhoids, is more commonly just skin irritation. External hemorrhoids are prone to thrombosis: if a vein ruptures and a blood clot develops, the hemorrhoid is considered to be a thrombosed hemorrhoid.If this occurs,medical assistance should be sought immediately.
Internal hemorrhoids are those that occur inside the rectum. This area lacks pain receptors, and as a result, internal symptoms produce no pain.As a matter of fact, most people do not even know that they are swollen. They can often bleed when swollen and can be dangerous, if left untreated. At this point,they may develop into either prolapsed or strangulated hemorrhoids.Both of these types of hemorrhoids are considered very serious.
What is Piles? – When internal hemorrhoids are in such distress that they are pushed outside the anus,they are referred to as prolapsed hemorrhoid. When the anal sphincter muscle spasms and traps a prolapsed hemorrhoid outside the anal opening cutting off the blood supply, it is then called a strangulated hemorrhoid.
Treatment options
Topical Ointments and Creams
A coating of petroleum jelly or any commercially available “diaper rash” creams can be applied directly to the anal area to lessen symptoms of piles and soothe irritated skin surfaces. Skin surfaces that are cracked or dry, will immediately feel improvement. Lubrication can be applied to the anus just prior to a bowel movement and this will be an effective method of alleviating pain. Specifically to help with the passage of a hard or difficult stool.
